Does this mean we have to start tracking down purple and white carrots?
Mind you, I'm tempted to try the 'Cariota' - roast carrots at Berkeley. All you need to do is stick the carrots in the coals of the fire, then peel them!

Moot point - there are a few references to red roots but apparently white and purple were more common

Tee I thought about cooking them in that way but it does sound a bit messy. I suppose there is less washing up though.
