I don't think they would do it but the more that sign the more likely they will stop hepping on more tax, and you never know they "might" take a bit of tax off

Pass it on they might start running scared if the list gets lots of names on it

I'm not sure that the rising cost of fuel is all bad.
The Government wants to spend millions on campaigns to make us exercise more in order to help the NHS, and even more on town congestion charges to get us to drive less. I know that a number of people at work are already driving less and walking/cycling due to the current prices which is good for both the environment and people’s fitness.
I also noticed that the link you gave only applies to petrol/diesel prices. I am more concerned the related prices of gas/heating oil/electricity and how those will a affect the poorer members of society, especially over the winter.
The government needs to look seriously at both the long term security of energy supply which will help us being held to ransom in the future, and look at renewable sources which could help the environment. I know some of this has started, but could take 15-20 years.

I remember reading on The Beeb, a couple of weeks ago, an article saying that gas/electric costs could rise by 40% this year. Another side effect of the increased oil prices, coupled with a world wide shortage of corn (too much production switched to ethanol), rice (bad harvests) and to a lesser degree wheat (too many farmers switching to lucrative corn for ethanol), means that food prices are rising sharply and will continue to do so. It's going to be a rough winter.

There's a big backlash against 'gas guzzlers' here. I'm seeing a lot more smaller cars, including the Smart car, and far less SUVs and I've also heard that most car dealerships are no longer taking SUVs for trade-in 'cos there's such a surplus of them. I'm also noticing less traffic in general though that's probably got more to do with it being the school summer holiday than anything else.
