Well the 2014 season is approaching at a frightening rate. Buckingham’s Retinue have a record number of our own events this year including a first ever visit to Castle Acre Priory, and a welcome returns to Kenilworth and Lincoln Castles after a number of years away, as well as the mainstays of Skipton, and Denny. Large scale events for 2014 include a new entry in the calendar for Leeds Castle (Kent) which promised to be spectacular, a return to England’s premier historic castle at Warwick Castle, and the large scale battle re-enactments at Bosworth and Tewkesbury

The first big set piece display will be with Livery and Maintenance this Easter at England’s premier historic attraction - Warwick Castle. This year at Warwick Castle we will be focusing on living history displays, and combining displays with other groups. We aim to top the weekend with the preparation of a spectacular Easter feast and associated festivities.

Out first Buckingham’s organised event will be Kenilworth castle where we plan a St Georges day celebration including mumming plays, music and dance.

Spring Bank holiday sends us to Lincoln Castle with the Nesfields for a Tournament event. . The Nesfields will be jousting, and we will provide the Living history, games, and foot tourney. Lincoln is always a great site to re-enact at with a large arena, flat, sheltered camp site, large crowds, and an excellent ice cream shop just outside the gates for when the public leave.

July will be a busy month, with the what is still the largest medieval battle re-enactment in Europe at Tewksbury, a first visit for the Retinue to Castle Acre Priory, and out Medieval Murder mystery at Skipton

August sees us take part in the recreation of the most famous Wars of the Roses battle at Bosworth, then off to Denny Abbey museum for a small scale arena and living history show following the format that has been extremely well received for the last for years, the foolhardy amounts us will be heading straight off to Leeds Castle (Kent) for a brand new large scale event. Hopefully we will have some “Bucks on Tour 2014” T-shirt made up for this, to warn off other road users but a week’s worth of wood smoke and sweat will probably clear the service stations anyway!

Oh, as you may have notice 2014 also sees the launch of a new look website which is mobile friendly for Bucks on the move.

Have a great 2014 season, as always if you are interested in watching or attending any events get in touch.
